Parks Seasonal Laborer

Are you looking for a job that allows you to be outside in the summer enjoying the fresh air and weather?   How about a job that offers competitive wages?   We are looking for self-motivated, hardworking, Seasonal Laborers for the Stowe Parks Department.  If you have a great attitude and enjoy working with a fun group of people and are interested in working in grounds maintenance, please apply now! Seasonal full-time or part-time positions available, hours can be flexible, Monday-Friday.  Experience with grounds equipment is helpful but not essential. You are required to hold a valid driver’s license, and positive attitude.  Pay is $17 per hour.

Summer Camp Positions

Located in the beautiful village of Stowe, Vermont, Stowe Rec Summer Camp offers children with the quintessential day camp experience. Our summer camp is made up of three age groups- Explorers- K-2nd graders, Innovators- 3rd-6th graders, and TREC- 6th-8th graders. Each group of campers is led by 2-3 counselors. Stowe Parks & Recreation is currently seeking energetic, team oriented, and motivated individuals who have experience working with children or in a recreational field.​

Camp Counselor

As a camp counselor you will have the opportunity to foster children’s learning and growth while providing quality, fun-filled programming. Applicants are responsible for the overall safety, support, program implementation, and logistics for a group of campers throughout the summer camp season. Individuals hired will be a positive role model, have a willingness to take initiative, and possess an encouraging attitude.

Shifts are Monday-Friday and generally from 7/8am-3/4pm, approximately 8 hours per day. Salary is based on experience and qualifications. First Aid/CPR/AED and Lifeguard certifications are preferred, though training may be provided. Season is from June 2022- August 2022. Join us for a delightful and fulfilling summer season!

Inclusion Coordinator

The Inclusion Coordinator is a seasonal employee hired to specifically oversee the emotional wellbeing of camp participants. The right candidate will work to ensure all campers have the opportunity to participant inclusively in our program.

Essential functions include:

  • In collaboration with the Camp Directors and Program Director, the Inclusion Coordinator develops and delivers strategies to address the emotional, social, and behavioral needs of campers to ensure a positive and rewarding camp experience for all.
  • Assist Counselors with behavior management and inclusive strategies as needed during activities.
  • Proactively share behavior management techniques with Counselors based on rosters and prior knowledge of specific camper behaviors.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, nurturing, and engaging environment for campers.
  • Be attentive to the feelings and emotions of campers and respond or intervene appropriately.
  • Encourage campers and staff to achieve their highest potential and recognize positive behavior.
  • Maintain clear communication on behavior management strategies to campers, parents, counselors, and Directors.
  • Promotes a safe and respectful work culture through positive role modeling and strong communication skills; immediately puts a stop to any speech or behaviors which are discriminatory or otherwise conveys disrespect to others.

Camp Director

As a Camp Director, you will work closely with the Program Director, Assistant Camp Director, Inclusion Coordinator, and Camp Counselors to ensure a safe, quality program. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and conduct training sessions prior to the camp’s start date.
  • Responsible for assigning staff to certain age group and supervisory responsibilities associated as such.
  • Assist in the pre-season planning of Camp activities – to include program planning, ordering supplies, preparing schedules and staff orientation
  • Oversee daily program activities and counselors to include supervision of staff –as well as adherence to rules and regulations for the daily conduct of Camp
  • Evaluates camp programs and counselors at the completion of the summer.
  • Submit end of the year report
  • Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment on a daily basis. Obtain necessary supplies & equipment.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings.
  • Responsible for coaching and counseling youth with behavioral issues.
  • Ensure the care and maintenance of a safe and healthy facility at all times.
