NEW! Part-Time Arena Attendant 

The Stowe Arena is seeking a part-time year-round Arena Attendant. The state-of-the-art Stowe Arena features an NHL size ice arena and indoor turf with 6 locker rooms with showers and restrooms, food service, Pro Shop with skate rentals and sharpening. It also boasts a heated 500 person bleacher seating area, a glass viewing lobby, and a conference/event room.

This 20 hour per week position is responsible for helping to operate and maintain the Arena.  Duties include operating the ice resurfacing machine (Zamboni), cleaning of the facility, bathrooms and locker rooms, snow removal in the winter and basic maintenance requiring the use of hand tools and power tools.  The Arena Attendant greets and welcomes guests and assists guests with skate rentals and is responsible for skate sharpening.

The job requires nights, weekends and some holidays.  Must be a high school graduate, have a valid driver’s license and pass the required background checks.  The pay range is $19-$21, depending on experience.  This is an at-will position and does not come with benefits.

Experience in cleaning, customer service and operating Zamboni preferred.  Willing to train the right person to operate the Zamboni.

Parks Seasonal Laborer- 2023 season

2023 Summer Camp Positions

Located in the beautiful village of Stowe, Vermont, Stowe Rec Summer Camp offers children with the quintessential day camp experience. Our summer camp serves kids in K-9th grade. Each group of campers is led by 2-3 counselors. Stowe Parks & Recreation is currently seeking energetic, team oriented, and motivated individuals who have experience working with children or in a recreational field.​

Camp Director

As a Camp Director, you will work closely with the Program Director, Group Coordinators, and Camp Counselors to ensure a safe, quality program. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and conduct training sessions prior to the camp’s start date.
  • Responsible for assigning staff to certain age group and supervisory responsibilities associated as such.
  • Assist in the pre-season planning of Camp activities – to include program planning, ordering supplies, preparing schedules and staff orientation
  • Oversee daily program activities and counselors to include supervision of staff –as well as adherence to rules and regulations for the daily conduct of Camp
  • Evaluates camp programs and counselors at the completion of the summer.
  • Submit end of the year report
  • Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment on a daily basis. Obtain necessary supplies & equipment.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings.
  • Responsible for coaching and counseling youth with behavioral issues.
  • Ensure the care and maintenance of a safe and healthy facility at all times.
  • Promotes a safe and respectful work culture through positive role modeling and strong communication skills; immediately puts a stop to any speech or behaviors which are discriminatory or otherwise conveys disrespect to others.

Shifts are Monday-Friday and generally from 7am-3pm, approximately 8 hours per day. Salary is based on experience and qualifications. First Aid/CPR/AED and Lifeguard certifications are preferred, though training may be provided. Season is from June 2023- August 2023. Join us for a delightful and fulfilling summer season!

Group Coordinators

The Group Coordinators will work in a specific age group with our counselors. This is a seasonal employee, the scope of the work includes planning and conducting program activities as well as overseeing the emotional wellbeing of camp participants. The right candidate will work to ensure all campers have the opportunity to participant inclusively in our program.

Essential functions include:

  • Assist Directors will program planning and preparing group activity schedules.
  • Oversee daily program activities and counselors to include supervision of staff- as well as adherence to rules and regulations for the daily conduct of Camp.
  • In collaboration with the Camp Directors and Program Director, the Group Lead position develops and delivers strategies to address the emotional, social, and behavioral needs of campers to ensure a positive and rewarding camp experience for all.
  • Assist Counselors with behavior management and inclusive strategies as needed during activities.
  • Proactively share behavior management techniques with Counselors based on rosters and prior knowledge of specific camper behaviors.

Shifts are Monday-Friday and generally from 8am-4pm, approximately 8 hours per day. Salary is based on experience and qualifications. First Aid/CPR/AED and Lifeguard certifications are preferred, though training may be provided. Season is from June 2023- August 2023. Join us for a delightful and fulfilling summer season!

Camp Counselor

As a camp counselor you will have the opportunity to foster children’s learning and growth while providing quality, fun-filled programming. Applicants are responsible for the overall safety, support, program implementation, and logistics for a group of campers throughout the summer camp season. Individuals hired will be a positive role model, have a willingness to take initiative, and possess an encouraging attitude.

Essential functions include:

  • The counselor should have a background and experience in the kinds of activities associated with summer recreation (i.e. sports and games, arts and crafts, swimming) supervisory knowledge of different aged group children as well as instruction and teaching techniques.
  • The counselor will be responsible for a certain age group activity and must assume all supervisory responsibilities associated as such
  • The health and wellbeing of the participants shall be the guiding principle for all activities and actions that take place.
  • The counselor must have the skills to function within the larger group and keep the ideals of the entire program foremost in their mind

Shifts are Monday-Friday and generally from 7-3pm or 8am-4pm, approximately 8 hours per day. Salary is based on experience and qualifications.
